All of the artworks here have been created during my time in lockdown brought on by the Covid-19 Pandemic. It has taken me some time to get my creative spark back as was generally feeling quite numb with this new virus and the effect it could have on our family and friends should anyone become infected with it, together with having to adjust to our new routine of home schooling and staying home to stay safe.

Over the past few weeks I have seen and received many social media posts and emails regarding raising funds for various charities and local clubs. I have supported and participated in several fundraising challenges from running 5K, participating in a 2.6 Challenge & a Zoom HIIT session. I have sponsored others to run, create PPE and so on. It hasn’t just been the NHS requiring funding, several other charities and clubs have been severely affected by this crisis, not forgetting small businesses. This has inspired me to try and do something to help raise funds for some of these causes, initiated with my limited edition ‘💙NHS’ Coasters which sold out in a day. I wanted to take this a little further by creating some small artworks that could also help raise some funds for these causes and clubs so they can reopen as normal once this pandemic is over.

The pieces were inspired by my memories of my last (hot) beach holiday in Albufeira, finally utilising some of the sand that made its way back with me (naughty I know!), the wonderful rainbows that fill and brighten many windows and driveways all over the country and the dark cloud this virus has over us all. I have used hexagon wood panels in a few of the pieces as the hexagon, is symbolic of harmony and balance and a shape that is powerful and fascinating, helping bring harmony and serenity in what I call, this crazy time. The ocean is also one of the main things so many of us are missing and long for so by having a mini seascape in your home, it will hopefully bring some joy and hope for the day we can all be by the sea again.
